Even though it is a small city, you’ll find that there are a lot of fun things to do in Waterloo, ON. From shopping and sports activities to ceramic and glass arts, you’ll have a lot to choose from. Here at Volvo of Waterloo, we’ve put together our short-list of some of our favorite things to do in Waterloo. Take a look, then get out and enjoy yourself.
The largest recreational centre in Waterloo, RIM Park has something for just about everyone. Located on the edge of the Grand River, the park has both indoor and outdoor facilities. The Rim Park Manulife Sportsplex houses four Olympic-sized ice pads, an indoor field house with grass-like turf, and two NBA-sized gymnasiums. Outside there are four natural grass playing fields, two international size turf fields, six baseball diamonds, and a beach volleyball court. The 11 km Walter Bean River Trail is ideal for a leisurely stroll or brisk walk in the summertime, and cross-country skiing in winter. After you’ve enjoyed your preferred physical activity, grab a bite to eat at the Benchwarmer Sports Bar or the concession stand which offers snacks, light meals, and refreshments.

The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is the only gallery in the country that is dedicated to ceramics, enamel, and glass artworks. The permanent collection includes over 900 pieces displayed in five galleries. While primarily featuring Canadian artists, the collection also includes critically-acclaimed work from international artists as well. Make sure to stop by the Gallery Shop where you’ll find a wide array of handmade glass and ceramic treasures for sale.

The largest shopping centre in Waterloo, the Conestoga Mall houses over 140 shops, the Galaxy Cinemas, a landmark food court, and the City of Waterloo Heritage Museum. With so much to see and do, the mall is a popular destination for locals as well as visitors.

The Ctrl-V Virtual Reality Arcade flagship location features a wide array of games for all ages and skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, you’ll have a blast in the 16 available VR arcades. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the stations can be booked for an hour with the option of adding additional hours if you so wish.
